CASE STUDY

Karla Cassidy, Senior Engineer | JS Held
Karla Cassidy is a Senior Engineer at JS Held, a global consulting firm that offers various services to help their clients navigate complex and often catastrophic situations.
Working with the Biomechanics team at JS Held, a part of Karla’s role is evaluating the injury risk during an incident. Karla will review the injury mechanism involved and compare it to a person’s injury for the corresponding incident.

A significant part of Karla’s review involves extracting the relevant pieces of information from various medical documents. A major challenge in this review is that files are often very disorganized, shared as several different PDFs, and are often not in a chronological, digestible format.
Manually organizing this data is tedious and Karla wanted to be able to place more focus on the critical parts of her review to determine the route of the injury.
When Karla found SiftMed she was both surprised and excited.
Prior to SiftMed, Karla wasn’t aware an alternative method for review was possible and that such technology was available to help enhance her process.
SiftMed is an investigative AI platform designed to help assessors organize and categorize medical files. Once Karla discovered SiftMed she was eager to implement this solution into her process. Using the platform, Karla is able to simplify and streamline her process by quickly organizing files, allowing her to focus on the review and easily extract the key data in each case.
“By having all of the files in one place and automatically sorted into chronological order, it already took a huge lift off of the review,” says Karla.
After they realized what SiftMed could do, Karla said it wasn’t hard to get her team on board. And in addition to the time saving capabilities, SiftMed also makes it easy for her team to

collaborate. If Karla is working on a file, she can easily share the case with her colleagues to collaborate on the review. It’s easy for them to filter the dates of documents they need, eliminate duplicates, and do a search for a specific body part or injury within the case.
Often, some of Karla’s cases will get picked back up months later with more questions from a client. Using SiftMed allows Karla to easily reopen a case and quickly find key information required.
Instead of having to review a file all over again, Karla can quickly open her notes in SiftMed and easily find documents to reference. Even better, her team can access the file and help answer any questions if she is away from the office.
Ultimately, Karla is able to complete her review from start to finish in SiftMed more effectively than ever before, as a result of simplifying and streamlining her process.
With SiftMed, Karla’s workflow is more concise, she can collaborate more easily with her team, and they can do a more in-depth review and analysis of all medical documents.
